Bill Stubblefield is the technical director of Parametrix's
Environmental Research Laboratory in Albany, Oregon. He also serves as
courtesy faculty in the Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology
at Oregon State University. He obtained a B.S. in Biology from Eastern
Kentucky University in 1977, a M.S. in toxicology/toxicodynamics at the
University of Kentucky in 1979, and a Ph.D. in environmental toxicology
from the University of Wyoming in 1987. Bill has authored more than 50
peer-reviewed publications and technical presentations in the areas of
aquatic and wildlife toxicology and environmental risk assessment. Bill
is an active member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry
where he previously served as a member of the Society’s Board of
Directors (1996-1998, 2000-2005) and President in 2003-2004.
Bill’s primary research interests are in the aquatic and
wildlife toxicology of metals and petroleum hydrocarbons, and the application
of these data in the conduct of ecological risk assessments. He has conducted a
variety of research projects examining the toxicity of metals to aquatic
species, the development and/or modification of water quality
criteria/standards, and the impacts to aquatic and terrestrial species
resulting from the discharge of mine-associated waters and tailings. He has
also investigated the environmental impacts resulting from oil spills; and has
conducted studies to characterize the toxicity of petroleum-derived
hydrocarbons, petroleum products and refinery process streams and
effluents.
