Sweet Home High School needs volunteers for garden maintenance!

When: Ongoing daily through July 31st.

Where: Sweet Home High School tennis courts.  Come into Sweet Home on hwy 20 and turn right on 18th avenue (Les Schwab on the corner). The garden is 1 ½  blocks on the left, right along the High School tennis courts with a shared fence.  The second garden is on the hill just above this one. The Garden is exactly 45 minutes fromthe OSU Campus.

Description: There are two school gardens in Sweet Home in need of garden maintenance (weeding, etc) during the summer. The gardens are primarily used as educational gardens for students of the local high school and middle school as a part of the world-wide Edible Schoolyard Project.

The project will take many hours between the two gardens.  We will take all the help we can get.  It can be a group or individual people.  Kids from Boys and Girls Club of Sweet Home and Lebanon work on the garden on Tuesday afternoons at 1:30 if someone wanted to come and work when the kids were there.  Once the weeding is done it would be a one-time project.

The Oregon Jamboree is a Country Music Festival that is held on the High School grounds each year, the first weekend in August.  The school district requires the gardens to look in very nice condition each year the week before the Jamboree as they are seen by the 15,000 ticket holders.  The ticket line for getting in the festival runs along the garden fence and the school district wants it to look good, so we have a time frame to get it in shape each year.
